Quick Picks

Did you know the library has a collection of “hi-lo” (high interest, low readability) books? Characterized by a short length and approachable vocabulary, these books are housed within the YA fiction section and are great for struggling readers, readers learning English, or anyone who wants a quick read!

Juneteenth Reads for All Ages

Made a federal holiday in 2021, Juneteenth commemorates the day the last enslaved people were emancipated in the United States on June 19, 1865. The list below celebrates fiction and nonfiction by African American authors that continue to shape our culture, celebrate liberation, and acknowledge the ongoing work towards freedom and equality.
