Wilcox House

The 2024-2025 Wilcox Foundation Essay Contest has been announced! Submissions are due on April 4 and all of the information is available at http://www.wilcoxfoundation.org

This year’s theme is Plymouth: Everything Old is New Again. Your essay should explore the history of Plymouth’s Old Village, including the buildings, people, families, businesses, and the importance of Old Village to the City of Plymouth.

The library’s local history portal includes digitized Plymouth Observer and Community Crier archives, and may prove valuable to your research efforts. The library also has local history books available in our collection. Primary sources, including first person connections, are also encouraged. Contact Lisa Howard for vetted contacts, or attend an Old Village Association meeting, visit a current Old Village business owner, or interview someone who grew up in Plymouth.

Rules, judging, and submission guidelines are available here, and completed essays can be submitted by email to Lisa Howard.

Good luck!
