The Official Cookie of Plymouth is…
Tonquish Toffee, created by Micah and Quinn Lorentz!
The Great Plymouth Cookie Vote was a large, months-long project designed by librarians Nicole Munson and Lily Wiest, with a goal to promote civic engagement and get people thinking about electoral politics ahead of the midterm elections. Prior to the vote itself on October 10, related programming took place at the library, including a presentation by the League of Women Voters, a Schoolhouse Rock Marathon, Crafternoon, and book clubs.
On October 10, nearly 200 patrons arrived to taste-test candidates’ creations and vote for the cookie they felt most accurately represented Plymouth (and had the strongest impact on their taste buds!). In a close vote, Tonquish Toffee was deemed the winner. Let’s Go to the Movies! and Plymouth Rock S’More took second and third place, respectively.

The Tonquish Toffee cookie was made with Kemnitz Fine Candies’ chocolate-covered toffee bars, and the name was decided upon featuring input and love from the bakers’ Plymouth neighbors.
At the Library Board Meeting tonight on Tuesday, October 20, Tonquish Toffee will be named the Official Cookie of Plymouth. Those attending the board meeting can try the cookie itself, and pick up a cookbook filled with the recipes from all 10 Great Plymouth Cookie Vote candidates.

In their speech on Election Day, library patrons and bakers Quinn and Micah shared why they thought Tonquish Toffee deserved this title. “Our neighbors worked with us to help us to taste test and name our cookies. It took a lot of different batches and recipe changes to make a cookie we thought best portrayed Plymouth.” They continued, “Tonquish Toffee represents the multiple people living in Plymouth with its multiple flavors that work together to make a wonderful community!”
