Good news! There are many ways to skip the lines when you want to use the library during our busiest season.
If you don’t already have the library app downloaded on your device, you are missing out on an easy way to keep up with your library account. Search for items in our collection and have them set aside for you on the holds shelf for pickup. The app also includes a digital version of your library card, so you can use it to checkout when you get to the building. Find us on the App Store and Google Play.
We still offer contactless pickup as an option for retrieving your holds. Whether this is something that you need for medical reasons or if you are simply busy and want to save a little time, we have you covered.
To set up a contactless pickup, you first need to place the items that you want on hold. When
the items are available for pickup, you will be notified by phone (call or text) or email. If you receive notifications through email, you will receive a link to add your pickup reservation. If you are notified through the phone, then you can call us back at 734-453-0750 and choose option 3 to have us set up the contactless pickup time for you!
After you have set up a time to pick up your items, you can find them on a cart in the vestibule at the front entrance to the library. They will be checked out to you already, so all you need to do is grab them and go!
We also offer fast and easy self-checkout machines at the Main Level entrance and on the Lower Level in the Youth section. Fun fact: our books make use of RFID technology to identify each item when they are placed on the checkout pad.
