The Plymouth District Library is now offering automatic renewals!
If your account is in good standing, and your checkouts are eligible for renewal, we will automatically renew them one day prior to their due date. You will receive an email notice with details on which checkouts were able to be renewed.
Frequently Asked Questions
Are automatic renewals guaranteed?
We cannot guarantee that an automatic renewal will be processed. Your account must be in good standing (under $50 in fines), and the item in question must not have any other requests/holds on it.
Why do auto-renewals happen one day prior to the due date?
Because we can’t guarantee an auto-renewal on every item, we want to give some advance notice to those patrons whose items will have to be returned.
Are MeL interlibrary loans automatically renewed?
No, we still have to renew interlibrary loan items directly through the MeL website. Click on “My MeLCat” on the top menu at https://mel.org, or contact the library for assistance!
How will I know what was renewed?
If you have an email address in your patron record, you will receive an email notice with information on which item(s) were and were not able to be renewed, along with any new due dates. You can also log in to your account online by clicking here, view your account on our mobile app, or click “My account” in the top right corner of our webpage.
At this time, we do not have a way to notify patrons who receive their notices through the phone. However, these patrons will still be included in the automatic renewal process.
Can I still renew items myself?
Of course! You can manage your account online by logging in with your library card number and PIN here. You can also download our app from the App store or Google Play store. (Search for “Plymouth District Library.”)
Can I opt out of automatic renewals?
We don’t have the ability for patrons to opt out of this automated process at this time. If you no longer want to keep the item you have checked out, you can return it at any time.
