Shot on Martha’s Vineyard in Massachusetts, director Stephen Spielberg employed pneumatic sharks and a cello-driven, haunting musical theme to provoke terror in audiences. With a production budget of $7 million, this underwater nail-biter of a film went on to gross near $471 million worldwide, becoming the first official summer blockbuster.
