  • PBS Literacy Link Adult literacy information for students.
  • English Club ESL web site designed for students or teachers where you can: study English grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation; play games and do quizzes; discuss topics with other students and teachers, test your level, find learning aids and more. 
  • The ESL Cafe Includes an ESL help center, question page, quiz center, message exchange, quotes page, idea page, and links to ESL journals and teaching sites. 
  • English as a 2nd Language from About - the Human Internet Covers all levels of learning on many subjects.
  • Linguistic Funland!  Offers activities, exercises and multiple links to other ESL websites.
  • Randall's ESL Cyber listening Lab Listening skills quizzes and exercises compiled by Randall Davis, an ESL instructor at the University of Utah. (Note: needs Real Player or other plug-in device to access a/v files.)
  • Verizon Literacy Campus Resource for volunteers and tutors offering free online courses on many literacy instruction issues as well as other resource links.
  • Breaking News English current events and business English lesson plans contain a news article, listening (MP3 file), pod cast, communication activities, pair work, discussion, reading and vocabulary exercises. Classroom handouts are reproducible in Word and PDF.
  • Voice of America News News stories on current world news and developments in science written in short, simple sentences that contain one idea and use the active voice.  Audio reading of the article is read at a slower pace.  Also contains short stories by past and present American writers.
  • BBC News Provides news report with a learning English section that has vocabulary definitions, listening and watching (video) exercises that test comprehension, features on vocabulary and pronunciation, ask questions about the English language, audio broadcasts and quizzes to test your English including vocabulary and grammar.
  • Google Literacy Portal Search specific topics or keywords to reveal list of downloadable information, books, articles and videos about literacy; connects you to literacy organizations, blogs, and discussion groups; allows users to search within books and articles.
