Book & Author Luncheon - May 12, 2017

Friends of the Library Book & Author Luncheon will be held on Friday, May 12, 2017 at 11:30 am at Fox Hills Golf and Banquet Center in Plymouth Twp.  Cost is $30 per person and reservations will be accepted through April 28 at 12 noon.  Download the reservation form here.

This year's featured speaker is history writer, Robert MacDougall, author of three non-fiction books:

  • The Agitator and the Politician -The story of two very different men, the radical abolitionist, William Lloyd Garrison, and the conservative politician, Abraham Lincoln, and their very different -- and complementary – roads to the emancipation of the slaves.
  • Leaders in Dangerous Times -The story of two very different leaders, Douglas MacArthur and Dwight D. Eisenhower in two world wars and the Cold War.
  • American History:  It's More Than the Crap You Learned in High SchoolA review of what we all sort of learned about American History in High school and an analysis of how that knowledge might actually be interesting and useful.
 
Robert MacDougall, graduate of Birmingham Seaholm High School and the University of Michigan, has taught American history at the high school and college level for almost fifty years. He is currently retired and lives in Andover, Massachusetts with his wife Diane.

As a  bonus, Brian Anderson, local fiction author and founder of Plymouth Writers group will also give a brief presentation. Brian, a graduate of the University of Michigan, will speak briefly about Plymouth Writers group and his new book,Chip Dip, which is set in Detroit.
