Hate List by Jennifer Brown ~
Valerie Leftman was a normal teenager, until her boyfriend Nick decided to bring a gun to school and shoot their classmates and teachers based on a "Hate List" that she helped him create. Valerie, her family, and her classmates try to come to grips with the aftermath unsure herself whether she was a hero or a villain. Winner of the 2010 Michigan Library Association’s Thumbs Up! Award  (Gr. 8+)

Interrogation of Gabriel James by Charlie Price ~ High school sophomore Gabe has witnessed a murder he might be partly responsible for.  The police interrogation is interspersed with his memories.  The fast pace and dark mood won’t disappoint those who like thrillers. (High school)

The Secret to Lying by Todd Mitchell ~ Fifteen-year-old James lies about himself to be considered "cool" when he gets into an exclusive boarding school, but soon unnaturally vivid dreams of being a demon-hunting warrior lead to self-destructive acts while he is awake. (High school)

Shutout by Brendan Halpin ~       Fourteen-year-old Amanda and her best friend Lena start high school looking forward to playing on the varsity soccer team, but when Lena makes varsity and Amanda only makes junior varsity, their long friendship rapidly changes.  (Gr. 7 – 9)
