1. In addition to regular computers for public use of the Internet,
the Plymouth District Library also makes available an ADA Computer
with a large monitor and adaptive features and is reserved for patrons
with restricted vision. These features include magnification and
text-to-voice for use with headphones. Patrons must go to the Reader's
Advisory Desk on the Main Level for help in starting the machine.
2. Internet computers are filtered automatically for users under
the age of eighteen. Those eighteen and over may choose to change
the default (filtered) when they login to a computer. Patrons using
guest passes are assigned filtered computers.
3. Internet computers have time management software installed. Each
user is entitled to one hour at a time. If no one is waiting to use
a computer, you may request the time be extended for an additional
hour at the Machine Assistance Desk.
4. The Library reserves the right to limit the number of patrons
using one Internet computer.
5. Computer users will be held responsible for any damage they cause
to the computers. Parents/guardians are responsible for damage done
by their children.
6. Printing from the Internet is sent to a networked laser printer
at the cost of $.10 per page for black & white, or $.50 for color.
Users must prepay by putting money on their library cards at the
Account Payment Machines located on each floor . Printed pages
may be picked up at the Print Release Station. Wireless users do
not have printer access.
7. Library staff provides limited assistance for basic start-up
procedures only. Books and manuals are available near the Internet
computers for more detailed questions. Library Staff teach introductory
computer classes for Plymouth residents. Sign up for classes at the
Reader’s Advisory Desk on the Main Level of the Library.
8. Users may not install their own software on Library computers.
Downloading to flash drives via the USB ports, or to the floppy disk
drive (a:\) is allowed. Floppy diskettes may be purchased at the
Circulation Desk. Wireless users may download files to their own
devices.
9. Wireless users must obtain a password at a Help Desk on any
Level prior to accessing the Library's wireless network. Users under
18 are not allowed on the wireless and will not be issued passwords.
10. See staff at the Machine Assistance Desk or the Reference Desk
if you have trouble with your computer. Staff is unable to provide
assistance with wireless devices.
11. Failure to abide by these procedures will result in the loss
of Internet privileges.
