New this summer! Middle and high schoolers needed for a great new program...reading buddies!  Get matched up with a little buddy in grade K-3, then spend some time on Monday afternoons listening to them read and helping them enjoy reading.  This is a great way to get volunteer hours for NHS or NJHS before the August panic.  Have fun, keep cool, and make a difference!

Volunteers are required to attend a mandatory training session on Monday, June 18 from 1-2pm and commit to attending all of the following meetings:

Monday, June 25 from 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM

Monday, July 2 from 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM

Monday, July 9 from 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM

Monday, July 16 from 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM

Monday, July 23 from 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM

Monday, July 30 from 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM

To participate, sign up at this link from now until May 31.

Help us put DVDs, CDs, and books back on the shelves.  If you are looking for a volunteer option with a lot of schedule flexibility, this is a good choice for you.  Before you can volunteer as a shelver, you will need to attend an upcoming Teen Volunteer Orientation and turn in a completed Teen Volunteer Application.  Print one out, or grab a copy in person at one of our Help Desks.

Upcoming orientation sessions are scheduled for the following dates:

Saturday, April 28 from 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM

Saturday, May 12 from 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM

Wednesday, May 23 from 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM

Register online, in person, or by calling (734)453-0750, ext. 4.

After completeing your orientation, sign up for the dates and times that you can come to the library and practice your new shelving skills using SignUpGenius. Here are some instructions to get you started.

Teen Tech Tutors assist older adults learning how to use phones, tablets and computers.  Tutoring takes place on Saturdays from 10:00 AM - 11:30 AM. You do not need to be a computer expert but you should enjoy teaching others. This opportunity is available to high school students only.

To get started, please contact Barb Dinan at (734)453-0750, ext. 271 or This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

Join library staff every month to help plan library services for your peers.  Share your ideas on how to make the Teen Zone and all of our programs a "perfect fit" for you and other teen patrons.
