Plymouth District Library Library Discussion Groups
 

The Library serves as host to a variety of discussion groups. Topics include astronomy, investing, gardening, book clubs, low vision, needlecrafting, and poetry. If you are interested in joining one of these groups, please call the contact person listed with the group information below:

 

$$$ and Sense - provides a forum to study and share personal investment information. This group meets on the 1st Wednesday of each month from 1:00-3:00pm and provides a forum to study and share personal investment information, learn investment terminology, review different investment tools, and study individual stocks, mutual funds, annuities, etc. Each month, members follow and report on a mock portfolio they set up on the Internet. This is not a stock club, no monies are involved; members plan, moderate, and participate in each meeting. Brown Bag Books - This daytime group meets on the fourth Wednesday of each month at noon in the library. Group members bring their own lunches and beverages are provided by the Library. Contemporary Books - This group meets on the third Wednesday of each month at 7:30 p.m. at the library. Group members decide which books will be discussed and take turns moderating the meetings. This discussion group is open to anyone who would like to explore great literature and meet with others to develop a deeper appreciation of it. Group meets every other Monday evening at 7:30 from September through May. The group is open to anyone who is curious and willing to work with others in developing an understanding and appreciation of great literature. For more information contact Karen Berrie.

Low Vision Support Group – This group meets on the first Thursday of every month. Participants will share advice on coping skills and adaptive technologies in a supportive atmosphere. A qualified facilitator will lead the group. Library staff members will be on hand to provide assistance with Library equipment, services and offerings. Needlework Group - includes knitters, quilters and other kinds of handicrafters. Bring your current project to share with this group on the 4th Monday of each month at 7:00 pm. Stars, Moons & Planets - Join lively astronomy speaker Mike Best in this monthly discussion group. Mike shares his affection for the sky with adults and children over the age of 6. No registration is required.Call 734-459-BEST or email him at starmikebest@aol.com

Writing My Life Story: A Senior Writing Group meets the 1st Tuesday of every month from 1:00-2:30 pm and the 3rd Thursday of every month from 4:00-5:15pm. Local author, Jane Saylor, facilitates. No writing experience is required.
